Pixie Lott Starlight Hair Colour Review

As i was browsing Superdrug the other week i came across Pixie Lott's hair colour range and noticed the colour Starlight (ash grey colour). I've heard mixed reviews on her colour range and thought I'd give it a try. I am a trained hairdresser so i wouldnt normally get any hairdyes from the drugstore. I would only usually buy from a suppliers. The only reason i brought it was because of the price. Its £5.99 and it was semi permanent (washes out in 2-10 washes). Its hard to get a semi permanent ash grey colour in my suppliers where i live as they are either mouses which wash out in one wash or permanent which i didnt want to go for incase it didnt look very nice.

As you can see from the picture above my hair has gone a golden colour which as a hairdresser i would name as brassy. I am not fond of this colour but unfortunetly my hair does go that way if i dont use purple shampoo or some sort of toner for a while. It was in need of something.

Before i put the colour on i shampooed my hair twice and towel dried my hair. The colour went on easy (no mixing involved) and the mixture smelt like sherbet (so nice!). I didn't have any technique for putting it on. I put it in a bowl and used a brush to slather it on my hair. After that i massaged it in to make sure i didnt miss any blonde hair. You do get some fade out sachets to put on before you put the colour on but i didnt want the colour to be faded i wanted it to notice more. You get a 100ml tube of colour which is pretty good for the price. I left it on for about 30 minutes while i did some work.

Once the 30 minutes was up i washed out the colour with water and then put conditioner on. As you can see from the picture above the colour didn't take to my hair at all. It did tone my hair down a bit so its not as brassy as before. If your thinking about getting this colour to get an ash grey colour then think twice. I really don't think it has got enough pigment in it to make a difference unless you are platinum blonde. Everyones hair is different though so what doesnt take on my hair might take on someone elses hair. I would still use this to tone my hair as its cheap and easy to use. I am not sure what the other colours are like in the range but as they are meant to be pastel colours and if you had platinum blonde hair then go for it (they wash out if you don't like it). I have used the Bleach London The Big Pink colour (£5.00) and that faded into a nice light pink/peach colour which i preferred.

I hope this has been helpfuly :)
